John Lithgow
Following the success of his New York Times bestseller Dumpty, award-winning actor, author, and illustrator John Lithgow presents a brand-new collection of satirical poems chronicling the despotic age of Donald Trump. Trumpty Dumpty Wanted a Crown is darker and more hard-hitting than ever. Lithgow writes and draws with wit and fury as he takes readers through another year of the shocking events involving Trump and his administration. His uproarious poems and illustrations encompass Trump's impeachment, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter protests, and much more. Lithgow targets Mitch McConnell, Mike Pompeo, Bill Barr, Jared Kushner, Elaine Chao, and many others, but also includes a few heroes of the moment, including Anthony Fauci, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and even Barack Obama. The book arrives at a time when it's needed most. With all-new poems and never-before-seen line drawings, Lithgow will once again make readers laugh and pause to remember some of the most defining moments in recent history—skewering the reign of King Dumpty one stanza at a time.

Amazingly Funny purchase

I have had this product in my cart for about a year. It is presently 75% off so I thought it was a steal and had to get it. I am glad I did. After watching and listening to the author read some of the poems from the book I had to buy it. Delivers. I liked it. It is witty and comical but you have to be aware of politics in America today or at least the last 5 years to get the culture-specific comments. Very easy reading. I highly recommend it.

Purchase it!

This is a gift, though I just read 4 poems and those were worth the price! The drawings are fantastic! Thanks again Mr. Lithgow

Amusing and very well written , sad to me true

There is no doubt of this author’s knowledge, whit and writing ability. What is so sad is that it is all true and deathly serious.

Wonderful satire knowledge and rhyming

I am 70. When I was 22 I lived in d.c. During watergate. I have kept a skeptical when on politics since then. Back then there were scandals in both parties. Democrats tended to have scandals about sex and GOP had them about cash.. I prefer the first because it does not affect my taxpayers pocketbook. However we have never had an ethicless, immoral, paranoid sociopath desecrating the oval office before. I don't worry about myself. I've had a good life. I worry about my grand babies. D SCANDALS ABOUT CASH. I

Lithgow genius

I hope to see many more John Lithgow books. He is a good singer of Children’s songs “ Singin in the Bathtub” is great for kids. Now this funny, clever book about Trump, he is a National treasure for sure

Very entertaining and very accurate as well!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Its great to see "he who shall not be named" skewed like the pig he is!!

Another gem!

Besides being a skilled writer, Mr. Lithgow nailed the events that Dumpty was involved in. Very easy to read, highly entertaining, great illustrations.

Hilarious, sarcastic, poignant, prescient... Important!

This collection of poems is fantastic. If you're a Trump supporter you're probably not reading this so whatever. Who knew John Lithgow was a gifted poet? A great, sardonic, comedic, emotive actor... Sure! BUT a poet? I had no idea, but there's poems are all beautifully crafted with insightful commentary and meaning... Sometimes beautifully frightening meaning. I have always held Mr. Lithgow in the highest of regards as an actor but now I find him as a wonderfully gifted poet... Another crest for his lapel, another award for his mantel. If we had Knights in America he should most certainly be knighted. I bow to you Sir John of Sarcasm and Parody! BTW you should absolutely go check out the video series of stars reading his poems. It's pure magic! Sam jackson and Meryl Streep are amazing!

The best holiday gift for your Trump-averse friends

When I learned that the multi-talented John Lithgow had written a follow-up to his first book of satiric verses, Dumpty, I absolutely could not wait to get Trumpty Dumpty Wanted A Crown into my hands. Once I did, I couldn't put it down. What a refreshing contrast to all of the chaos and bellicose exchanges of our current political environment! Lithgow delivers a masterful skewering of all things Trump while making it clear that there are still thoughtful, caring people in the world who are finally beginning to point out that the emperor has no clothes. Lithgow's delightful illustrations are almost (almost!) more enjoyable than his verses, but I relished both. Buy this one in hardcover for your Trump-averse friends, because it's a treasure they'll want to keep. Even the paper it's printed on is a pleasure beneath the reader's fingers. This book may get me through the coming election.

Very Funny

Many, many laughs!
